This uses a green screw for the grounding wire, so if you're gentle with it you can connect that one first to help support the mounting plate's weight while you match the white and black wires to the corresponding ones in the ceiling. This product does follow the modern trend of using nothing but caption-less pictures for instructions, but it's not as bad as some of the furniture I've built. And if you get stuck I can imagine there are probably dozens of Youtube tutorials on how to install a ceiling light.The glass diffuser mounts easily and securely to the plate, and it gives a bright but soft light. I was flipping a house and wanted something stylish yet not too expensive. The square design is a nice change from most flush mounts that are round. Some flush mount lights feel cheap and use plastic instead of glass. These are made with a pretty nice frosted glass that give them a classy look. The lights were very easy to install, did it myself. They are plenty bright and provided adequate light to the basement where I installed them. I installed them early in the flipping process so I had about 7 months to use them personally. I never had a problem and the current homeowners also have had no problems! Definitely would recommend these! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Installation tips in this review *by P***N on Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2019* First, the good parts: For a bargain fixture, this one is quite attractive. I like the square shape and the marbled frosted glass much better than the round ceiling fixtures you normally see. It is low profile, which is great for my low ceilings. It takes two bulbs of 60W each, so it can be quite bright and could be made even brighter by using high-lumen LED bulbs. People here have complained about the difficulty of installation, especially the need to push against the insulation in order to get the fixture flush against the ceiling. I was able to get a good installation without removing any of the insulation, but I discovered a couple of tips that helped. The first tip is to do a trial assembly by pushing the long screws through the baseplate, pushing hard so as to compact the insulation and screwing on the little spherical nuts. These decorative-looking nuts are hidden from view when assembly is complete, and assembly would have been much easier if they had provided hex dome nuts instead - go figure. You'll notice that there is a lot of screw left over after the nuts are at the end of their threads; you'll need to force them until the nuts are tight against the base plate, which will cause the screws themselves to turn and partially retreat, apparently on purpose. Feel free to use pliers and don't worry about damaging the nuts, since they won't be seen. Once you have the trial assembly complete, with the mounting bracket squashing the insulation, remove the round nuts and proceed with the real installation. The second tip is to make sure you have a sturdy step ladder, so that you have enough stability to press the base plate hard against the ceiling with one hand while screwing in the nuts with the other. Better yet, find a helper; one of you presses the base plate against the ceiling with both hands while the other screws in the nuts. Either one of these tips alone should make it fairly easy to install this fixture; do both and it should be a snap.
