Review: NO WARRANTY - Don't Buy This From desertcart - Failed after less than 40 hours of use. desertcart is NOT an authorized reseller of this item so Russound would not stand behind the warranty. They would only provide warranty service if I had purchased this item from either Crutchfield or Best Buy. desertcart offered a partial refund of $816.88 even though I payed just over $1000 for it ($921.99 + taxes). I purchased this 8/23/2016 for my future retirement home. I made sure the order was fulfilled by desertcart and not a vendor. Won't do this again. Very disappointed with desertcart. The unit, when working, did a great job powering my Yamaha & Polk ceiling speakers in my house. Eight sound zones. The auto input sensing function is very nice. I was using three Sonos Connects to provide the input. Whenever I turned on the Sonos in a sound zone the amplifier turned itself on within about 1-2 seconds. It also turned itself off after about 5-10 seconds of no music. The sound quality was very good. Now... for the failure. The amplifier started cutting out for no explainable reason. The cut-outs were intermittent and unpredictable. Sometimes the cut-out would last 1-5 seconds and the music would come back. Other times it would cut-out and never come back on. It was not relegated to one channel but rather the whole system shut down. The whole line of blue lights turned off. I though at first it was my internet connection. I boosted the speed of my wifi. No positive effect. I then installed a Sonus Play 1 self powered speaker. This was run with a Sonus Bridge and was totally independent of the Russound amp. The Play 1 speaker ran continuously with no issues when the Russound amp was cutting in and out. This ruled out bad WiFi and issues within the Sonus system. I called Russound and provided the above symptoms and they said they would repair the unit for $250. I would have to pay for shipping both directions. This would be about $340 out of my pocket. Argh. Buyer beware when you try to save a few bucks by purchasing expensive items from desertcart.
Review: Russound AMP delivers exceptional quality and performance at a great price! - Replaced an amp from 2007 with this Russound amp. Previous amp was noisy and ran hot. Russound amp runs whisper silent and powers down each zone that is not being used keeping the amp cool. Russound amp delivers solid clean sound with ample power to drive the speakers. In fact, the gain is only set half way up on each channel as all the way up delivers a max volume that is beyond suitable listening levels. The Russound amp also does not produce any speaker hum when no music is playing and the amp zone is still on. Wiring up this amp is simple to wire with the wire blocks. This is a high quality, rock solid amp at an exceptional price!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can i use a subwoofer with this amp? If so how would i hook it up?**
A: This amp is intended to drive normal speakers. I use it in a multi-room audio system. It does nothing more than drive audio to the speakers. If you want to drive a subwoofer, you need a receiver/amp that splits out the different frequencies of audio to drive a subwoofer. In my configuration, I have a Denon amp that does that. The zone 2 output of the Denon amp drives the Russound amp which drives the speakers throughout the house.

**Q: Can you use a 3.5mm audio cable for an audio input?**
A: There is no 3.5 mm input, but you can get a 3.5mm to rca cable and that will work

**Q: Does this device have a separate amplifier for each zone? Such that, if zone 1 overheated its amp, zone 2 would continue to play?**
A: If one zone goes out the rest of them do play. I had one where zone six went out and everything else did play.

**Q: Does this operate off an app? How do you change sources for each zone?**
A: It does not run off of an app. You need to have a source selector before this. The zones can have individual inputs or can use a common bus input. We have a SONOS controller at each input.

### ⭐⭐⭐ runs too hot
*by T***N on September 25, 2017*

The product was easy to install and does have the ability to handle 8ohm and 4ohm loads at the same time. But this amp gets hot, very hot for a class D and it goes into protected mode fairly easily. I eventually had to buy another amp for 2 of the channels to offload the 4ohm speakers to their own amplifier. That amp was a niles S2150 and it is awesome (runs cool). The Russound D1650 still runs super hoteven after only needing to push an 8ohm load to all channels. I had to turn the gain to about half on all channels, use 12v triggered fans (in a well ventilated cabinet), to get the amp to stop going into protected mode after a couple hours of music play. After way too much work, the system is working well, but it would have been nice if the D1650 was the only amp I needed. this was not the case. I could not leverage all of the channels on the amp and even though it can handle the 4ohm loads, the amp gets way to hot to actually carry those channels at any reasonable volume.
