Its slightly stiff but not to harsh. Gets in all the joins nicely. I've used mine on my floors including the front door welcome mat and it works great. Even on fake grass in the garden. Its a nice weight to handle also. Not heavy compared with some. **Q: Does it pick up hair well?** A: I haven't tried it on that particular job , as I don't have a dog/cat. Personally though I think it may be too soft & bristles too long for that task. I use it for cleaning my patio lock block with a special liquid that merely requires mild scrubbing. The angled head gets right into corners and along edges really well, which makes sweeping much quicker and more effective than straight brooms. The bristles are stiff enough to handle outdoor leaves, dirt and gravel, but also work nicely on indoor hard floors. The handle feels solid and doesn’t wobble, and the whole thing is surprisingly sturdy for the price. It’s lightweight enough to use for longer periods without getting tired. No complaints so far after a few weeks of regular use.
