Review: I wish they had pencils like this when I was in school. - These are awesome pencils. I have several different types of pencils and I keep finding myself grabbing this one. If I have to find a gripe, it's that the coating on the pencil is slick, so if you sweat while writing, or you put lotion on your hands, it will make the pencil a bit slippery... Speaking of which, one word of warning, do not wipe your pencil down with rubbing alcohol to try and remove the lotion, this will remove the gold embossing on the pencil... But of course it leaves the annoying white barcode! I am left handed and this pencil does smudge for me a bit, but then again so do all pencils. There is no smell when this pencil is sharpened. I have sharpened the pencils using little wedge and blade sharpeners (I don't know what their proper name is) and a vintage 1960's wall mount sharpener that was used in classrooms back in the day, and both sharpen the pencil beautifully! I have also sharpened the pencil with a knife and that works as well. The lead is super strong. I have been using this pencil for cardboard craft projects because it lays down a nice dark line and doesn't smudge too much on cardboard, despite my leftyness. I wish they had pencils like this when I was in school. All we got were #2 Dixon or Tricondaroga's and they would always have a bit of grit in the lead so you would feel it grind away until the lead wore down and the grit fell out (or watever)... So far no grit with these and they write so smooth! I just wish there was a bare wood version.
Review: Great pencils! - These pencils are great. The wood doesn’t splinter when sharpening them. The lead is buttery soft and lays down smooth lines on the paper that aren’t hard to erase if you use a light hand. They’re a great alternative to some other pencils, and well worth the price. Great pencils!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these (2b) very different from tombow mono pencils in smoothness & ease of erasing? https://www.amazon.com/dp/b00dmwqqmo/ref=olp_product_details?_**
A: These are not the same as the Monos. The Mono is an artist grade pencil -- it's smoother, quieter at the same grade. The 8900 says 'For General Writing' on them. Keep in mind that it's not a Japanese pencil. It's made in Vietnam. A good pencil for 6 bucks, though.

**Q: How hard or soft is the graphite? I want to use this for note-taking, so I'd like something with a relatively harder and darker graphite.**
A: This is about the softest pencil grade normally sold for writing. It is dark, easy to erase and doesn't cut into soft paper. But it will also smear easily. That's the trade off with soft pencils. I think it is perfect for newspaper crossword puzzles and pretty good for drawings where you want shading. But for note taking, you will probably find a 2H or HB grade better even though they are lighter and harder to erase.

**Q: Are all 12 pencils in 2b lead? title says 2b, but product description mentions hb, b, and 2b...kindly clarify**
A: I bought 12 pencils with b hardness - all in one box. Also 2b hardness - again all 12 in one boxLiz Lynam

**Q: I want to be sure. Is thIs the price for 12 pencils?**
A: Yes, this price for 12 pencils.
