I used this on my boat to enable me to keep a check on my auxiliary battery which basically powers my lights and bilge pump. Wired direct through a switch (as there is no point running it continuously) it is easy to check that the voltage hasn't/isn't dropped[ing] too low. In fact I'm thinking of using a momentary switch so it doesn't get left on.Simple but well made design.
