I've not had a problem with it slipping on my stock, which is gloss polyurethane finished walnut and grips the rubber very well. It's well-enough made that I don't think it's going to wear out anytime soon, but I like it so much that I decided to buy a second one just so I have it on-hand in case this ever gets discontinued.
