    Not bad, but be careful...

*by J***. on Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2018*

The information was pretty good and I will definitely utilize the information from the book. I rate it lower because the links provided are clickbait. They provide a link for the "Magnetic Memory" worksheets, but when you follow the link, you have to enter your email address, which is not the end of the world, but when I entered my email address, I still didn't get to the worksheet. Instead, it links to a video (audio with a few images of text). You can't skip the video and it has no progress bar to tell you if it's going to be 30 seconds or two hours, so I sat and (sort of) listened. It recaps some from the book, which is fine, but I just wanted the worksheet. I listened to the video for about five minutes, until I heard him reference videos 2, 3, and 4, so I'm guessing that bar at the top that says "25% complete" means I'm on the first of four videos. I had no intention of watching four videos just to get the worksheets, so I did a Google search and found the worksheets on my own. Good enough quality for the book, but I don't care for the bait and switch on the links.

Not Just for Learning Legal Terminology

*by V***E on Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2013*

This very thorough resource lays out precise methods for creating your own personalized memory system. It goes so far beyond the basic memory techniques of flashcards, repetition, and the like. When you have a lot of vocabulary and details to commit to memory especially when studying legal terminology, the standard memory methods don't always cut it.I admit to being overwhelmed when I first began reading this book. However, the way the authors have taken the time to walk you through their memory system with so many examples makes it that much easier for you to apply. The memory palace technique reminded me of the word association flashcards used to teach SAT vocabulary and worksheets we gave our children for helping them learn all the names of the state capitals. They both used silly word associations or rhyming words to jog your memory. The problem is, if you don't remember the silly associations you cannot recall the word you were trying to memorize in the first place. The memory palace technique instantly personalizes your memory associations making them much easier to recall.

weirdly kinda fun doing memory palaces

This was my first book and window to memory palaces.Due to it's conciseness and concrete illustrations of the method, I was able to get through it in a few hours. The book is somewhat catered to lawyers and law students but the bigger argument the author is making is that you can learn anything through this method, even esoteric legal concepts. I'm a believer after reading this book and attempting some of the exercises he explains in the book. Also, weirdly kinda fun doing memory palaces.
