ON has a bi-directional motor, VPI is one direction. ON has a stronger, quieter vacuum motor than the VPI. You can clean dozens of records in a row with the ON, with the VPI you can do a few then you have to stop to let it cool down or the motor will stop working. The VPI spindle gets hot with use, the ON does not. VPI is $150 more expensive than the Okki Nokki. **Q: How long does it take to clean a record with this?** A: That entirely depends on how deeply you want to clean it and how many passes you do. For an old or especially grungy record, I’ll do one coat of cleaning fluid treated distilled water, allow it to sit for ten minutes to really break up the embedded grime, vacuum that off, then do another pass with just distilled water to also remove any traces of the cleaning fluid. This takes about 18 minutes a side. **Q: Where is it made?** A: In Germany. **Q: Just received my okki nokki, i can't thread the clamp down on the spindle. the inside of the clamp does not appear to have threads. is this normal am i doing something wrong?** A: The clamp should definitely have threads on the inside. It will need to screw into the spindle and hold the record secure while you operate the machine. I double checked mine and it does have threads.
