## Description

The duffel bag is a canvas bag, a simple cut, soft, with a flap top and a pocket on the front side. An excellent version of a small soft shoulder bag, can be used in hiking, fishing, hunting. If it is empty and has ceased to be necessary, the bag is easily and very compactly folded. Army Bag - the simplest version of a backpack. Its functionality is just as elementary as cutting. In a backpack, it is convenient to carry and store, personal things, equipment, food, medical supplies, clothes. Simply speaking - it's a bag for personal things, what it will be it is your choice. Size in inches 26*17,7 in, weight 1,4 lb, material cotton canvas.

Review: Russian Veshmeshok - This is a simple, no frills bag that holds quite a lot. Since I didn't find the typical 30 liter capacity description helpful (as if I'm going to fill this with water), I decided to have some fun and see what it could hold. I was able to fit an entire US Army pup tent with poles, ropes, and stakes, plus two homemade mess kits, and I still had room for a bit more. The material is canvas that is slightly thinner than you'd find in a US Army duffel bag, but it's definitely sturdy. It has what appears to be a hemp or jute twine drawstring that honestly is a little problematic (as in difficult to close), but you can just wrap it around the neck of the bag once you've loaded it up, and it'll be out of your way. The straps of the pack work by pinching the two sides together, folding the loop down, grabbing the center, and then putting the two remaining sides together, forming a loop, which then goes around the neck of the bag. Pull tight, and you have your straps. If this isn't clear, there are lots of video tutorials for how to close it. All in all, this is a great backpack, and the price is right.

While I haven’t used this on proper hikes, so I can’t speak to that aspect, it is very functional and spacious, as well as feels well built. While the Soviet design philosophy was often on simple and rugged products, as well as disposable, this pack feels it is the former, rugged and durable. I’ve so far used it to clean the house, tossing non-breakables in while reorganizing, stuff for the shooting range, etc. You could fit a small child in here if so inclined. Mine doesn’t have any odd odors other reviews have mentioned, got lucky there, but the canvas does look waterproofed (or resistant, most likely) by some waxy compound. Everything about this pack is simple, and that’s probably a good thing, though you will sacrifice comfort for function, the Soviet way.

**Q: Are there any harmful chemicals used in the making of the rucksack, i.e. toxic waterproof substances?**
A: Comrade Eric. If there were any harmful chemicals used in the making of Soviet backpack from four decades ago we’d know by now. Be a great patriot and purchase this but of useful nostalgia while you can from any capitalist regime as long as it’s less than $45.00. It’s made of canvas and needs a wax coating to make it water proof. Prost!

**Q: Would this be practical for school**
A: I like this backpack a lot, and you can store quite a bit in it. But it's not your normal backpack as far as modern designs that you may be used to. You will have to learn how to assembly it for daily use, I you tubed the instructions, after that I was able to assembly it. It is VERY dependably, rugged and reliably. But remember it is a WW11 design and the soviets made it what it is, but it's much different from it's U.S counterpoints as far as assembly and securing your gear/ once items are packed, but after that it's a walk in the park Kasanskie. (Kasankie remark from Top Gun movie lol) GOOD PRODUCT!

**Q: Is it okay to wash or will something happen to it?**
A: Sure you can wash it. It kind of hardens up. It will stand on its own when wet. The bag actually can hold water losing very little. I would dry it in the sun. I own 2 Veshmeshoks. I really like them.

**Q: Can I wash it in my washer and dry it in my dryer?**
A: Probably, I haven’t ran mine through the washer but the canvas is pretty sturdy

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy and Simple carrying bag but side strap stitching could use work

The bag itself is fine, finding a video explaining how to close it shouldn't be difficult for those unfamiliar with it, and you can easily sling it over one arm as well. I'm using it as a gym bag currently and plan to use it in the winter as a carrying pack. My one complaint was the apparent sloppiness of the box stitches attaching the side straps to the bag: the stitch inside was loose and had many hanging threads between them, as if the stitcher couldn't be bothered to start a fresh thread when going from one stitch to another, which got in the way of anything I put into the bag. I ended up cutting the training threads and will see about re-stitching the straps myself later on.
