Between this powder and the stick form (which is for upkeep and odour control rather than drain clearing), I've been issue-free since I started using these. I am really sensitive to scents, but these do not trigger any of the reactions that perfume can cause. When you first pour the powder into the drain, you'll probably get a funky smell, almost like bad eggs, but that's just the enzymes working on all the bio matter gunk. It will go away when you rinse the drain. It's best to rinse with hot water. I usually boil the kettle, give the water a minute to cool, then use that to rinse. It leaves behind pipes that look and act brand new! Amazing stuff. I've used it with my sinks, tub, toilet, and the drain for the washing machine. A friend of mine even used it with a seriously gross dishwasher left by a tenant, and she said it's now like brand new. No, I'm not being paid by Green Gobbler! This is just great stuff! I will add, for things like the toilet and the washing machine drain, I've found it's best to let the powder sit for 24 hours if at all possible, or at least over night. Safe for metal and PVC. Is this a fair observation?** A: Honest review here. i bought mine from home depot cuz if it doesn't work, you can return it. i was skeptical after the gel drano and crystal heat didn't unclog our stubborn kitchen sink. we have problems with it every 6 months we need to get the plumber. anyhow, when all failed and right before i had to call a plumber again, i tried this. 1st pac cleared 60%, 2nd pac cleared 80% and the 3rd pac left overnight cleared it all. if i do it again, do it the overnight way. **Q: What's the main ingredient? I can't tell from the photos.** A: I found a website that says the main ingredient is Sodium Bisulfate, Anhydrous Globular (NaH8O4) . I was hoping for scum-eating bacteria. Anyway, all biodegradable. I'm a little skeptical about a reviewer's understanding when they parrotted the company line "Green Gobbler's active ingredient acts as an emulsifier to liquefy solids" which sounds like gobbledygook to me, the daughter of a chemist. Sodium Bisulfate is acidic, so that's why instructions are to keep it off metal surfaces and why it apparently also etches into porcelain products. I would wear rubber gloves when working with it. **Q: product works but in my bathtub, thought I had rinse any splashes or residue away..came back later to find a dark brown stain. How to remove it?** A: Sometimes this can happen. All you need to do is soak the area with hydrogen peroxide, let it sit, and then rinse with warm water and a sponge. **Q: Can it be used in kitchen sinks with a disposal?** A: We have used this in the bathroom sinks, the toilet which was pretty amazing, cleared the drain very quickly, actually removed the rust stain that had been on the commode for a very long time. We did have an issue with the shower drain because we have a rain shower head, we did not get enough water into the drain which resulted in the entire house smelling like rotten eggs for many, many hours. You need to have lots of water ready to go when you use this product.
