The rim has also chipped in some places. I would not recommend putting in the dishwasher even though it says it’s dishwasher safe. It ruins even quicker!! It seems very well made, all the enamel wasn't chipped when it arrived and there was no image slippage or shadows of the images on the mug. The mug has a really good wide handle, which I think is one of the most important features of a well made mug. Overall I thought this mug looked very nice and the recipient loved it.
