Padding compound is a glue-like liquid that dries and holds the edges of paper together. I let the padding compound dry overnight, then trim the height of the plastic clip and the clear cover to fit the paper, then place the stack of paper into the clear report cover and sliding bar. Professional look, and the papers don’t slide around. The padding compound can be a little messy, it is applied in thin coats with a brush.
