Review: Great It Charges My Battery! - I first purchased the Pikasola Red lantern 200W wind turbine design in Nov. but I could not it to charge my test battery. Pikasola refunded and suggested I go with the 3-blade propeller design instead rated at 400W. This one works well and my test battery is finally charging! As shown in the video it takes higher wind speed to start and does not look as COOL as the Red-lantern but at least it's charging my battery which is GREAT! As we enter the winter months with high winds I will see how it performs.
Review: Update: Complete garbage. Lacking a tower/mast to mount and no help insight - Update post: this item came broken. After an year+ of building a mast for it, I finally got it set up on our off grid island to find that it was never going to work. I bought a new controller, tried all my connections over again, nothing worked. Then I found out when I took it apart to inspect, the inner three brass bands used to make connection for the three wires had completely melted and one of the connector rods that makes contact with the coil was snapped in half. See pictures. Don’t waste your time with this company. Original post: Even though the pictures show this on a tower tube/mast, you have to find in the fine print that there’s now tower provided and you have to design one yourself. Without easy access to a machine shop or very helpful hardware store, this “kit” is worthless. They should sell it with a basic mast that can be extended or strengthened with additional kits but there’s no support for it. I dragged this out to our off grid cabin, opened up the box, and found it can’t be set up without a mounting mast that I now have to waste several days at Home Depot trying to design. This is pathetic

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I see no mention of "connectors" to a system?**
A: Will this device mount to 1 3/4” internal diameter pipe?

**Q: What is the middle hole size of the hub?**
A: Center hole is about 1-1/4" diameter and is for passing wires through. It is not a mount hole. For my application, I used a 1-1/2" pipe flange and drilled holes using the base as a template for a mount and then used galvanized 1-1/2" pipe for the mast

**Q: I have a 12v controller from my solar panel.  Would that work with this?  Also what gauge wire do you recommend?**
A: 400w at 12v is roughly 30 amps, as a licensed electrician I would recommend #8 THHN Stranded wire, upsize to a #6 if you’re running it over 50’ for some voltage drop. I doubt you’ll run at 100% long. Last note, if you think you’ll ever upgrade put in bigger wire or spare conduits now, huge savings later because you’re already installing it.

**Q: would I need a battery and a charge controller to run a water pump or can I connect directly to the wind turbine?**
A: I would definitely say you'd need some type of charge controller and battery and inverter to do so-actual electrician would know better tho

Bought this for our trailer. Wanted to be able to generate some power while off grid and in snowy and overcast weather scenarios. Set it up and tested it for a while at home. It is a nice and large turbine and it doesn’t take much wind to get it spinning. Got some gusts of 35-40 mph on the days I was testing and it handled it really well. Started generating as soon as it started turning, watched it with a multimeter to confirm.
