## Description

TRAPPER Monitor & Insect Trap Traps & Monitors Insects TRAPPER Monitor & Insect Trap is a non-poisonous glue trap that captures and monitors insects. PMPs can use it to accurately determine the location, species and severity of insect infestations. The sturdy 7" x 3 1/2" (approx. 178mm x 89mm) cardboard trap can be used whole as a large trap or separated along perforated lines into three smaller traps. Its adhesive backing sticks to nearly any clean surface. The trap contains space to record the date and location of use. For roaches, use the trap with scented TRAPPER Roach Attractant Tablets. These non-poisonous pellets attract roaches to the glue.

Review: Excellent Traps - We moved into a new house in Fayetteville TN, and within 5 months, our 21 year old daughter was bitten by a Brown recluse. She reacted with a golf ball sized black circle of dead tissue that turned to ooze over the next 2 months. It has left a nasty scar and may require a tissue graft. The cost ran well over 1000$ even before counting future grafts. It was the worst pain she has ever felt as the tissue slowly died and turned to jelly. It was really terrifying as she ran a fever and threw up which is somewhat rare and a pretty heavy reaction. Our younger daughter reacts even worse to insect bites so we were/are very worried. I am an engineer so I did significant methodical web research and settled on these traps. We set out 10 or so of these traps downstairs. Over the next month we caught 9 recluses (as well as 30 other assorted bugs). Sadly - we have been catching 2 to 1 harmless wolf spiders over recluses (edit: One of the other reviewers said wolf spiders do bite - go figure). These traps seem to work really well. We set more in the master bedroom and caught another 8 - one was by my headboard, two were next to shoe trees. 4 were right by my wife's dresser. It's like a horror movie. Needless to say, this whole ordeal has gotten our attention in a big way. I am on a mission to vacuum crevices with a shop vac and then silicone up any hiding places. We are throwing away a ton of stuff and sorting a number of boxes we carried for years. I didn't realize I was in the Brown Recluse belt (or even what they looked like) - but now I have learned what a problem they are in my part of the country. Sadly - no more peacefully co-existing with spiders as I was taught as a youngster. These spiders are not aggressive - but if they happen to get in your clothing or your bed, you are likely to suffer a really nasty bite. Even with two German Shepherds (constantly shedding hair) - these traps stay good for over a month. Our house is very dusty as we aren't regular vacuum users - but I was pleasantly surprised at the longevity of the traps. The recluses seem to mainly come down to take a peek when a beetle or other bug is trapped, then they are trapped. I am a believer in these traps (and really don't like poisons) and am ordering another 180 so we can rotate them through multiple rooms. It seems to be one of the few effective weapons in our battle. They aren't real attractive (not sure what would be) and they don't stick on all walls or ceilings well and seem most effective at ground level. Note that while we have caught 20+ Recluses in the house over 3 months - we have never seen one inside the house outside a trap (edit: Not true now... as we have become more conscious of where they are we see them - mainly playing dead or moving slowly)! I have seen a number in my WoodShop in the wild as I moved around old plywood etc. It is the next target (edit: HUGE number of them... I think it is a lost cause to exterminate them, but I will make it safer). Edit: I insulated and sealed my garage, sheetrocked and caulked EVERYTHING so it is darn near airtight. Put down epoxy floors and surprisingly, they come in from outside and crawl around the garage door seals (they actually had a nest IN the old garage door seal). These traps catch them as they come in as they are strategically placed around doors and walls. ----------- update - 7/5/2012 I continue to use these traps. Sadly, I had more spiders than I thought in all my outbuildings and in my house. I have caught well over 200 recluses in the house over the last 2 years. No one else has been bitten and we are methodical shoe shakers now. Just ordered another 180 traps.
Review: Effective bug control for those with kids or pets - We recently did some fixing up in a basement to make our house seem a little bigger and to make it a place we wanted to spend some time throughout the week. One of the issues that needed correcting was that every time we were in the basement, we came across lots of different bugs crawling around. After going to my trusty source for products and reviews, I chose to go with these traps to begin with. I am very pleased with this product so I came back to talk about it and to order some more for when I need them again (I usually buy in quantity when I find something I am pleased with so I know I will have access to it in the future). First, I am going to wonder out loud if those writing some of the terrible reviews are in the pest control industry themselves. If they have the number of bugs that they claim I don't understand how they could have such a dissimilar result from what we have seen. My only thought is that they placed their traps poorly. We have had some traps that have not seen much action. We initially only placed 3-4 in a 1000 sq ft area and some are still fairly new looking. On the other hand we have gone through several traps in an area where there is a door to the outside. I will include an example picture of what one of the traps placed there looked like after a month or so. Point is...it does take a little trial and error to find where they will work best for you. The good news is that since it is just a sticky trap with no bait or poison, it doesn't go bad or expire. You can move it around and use it until the surface area is pretty well covered and replace it. This and the cardboard tube style of this product make it kid and pet friendly. Another thing I wanted to mention is that these are not horribly noticeable or unappealing. These can be laid flat or folded and put under a piece of furniture and all but forgotten about. If you go to a doctors office, gym, supermarket, etc and look closely, those types of places use products similar to these. I had never really noticed them until I bought some and put them to work. Now I see similar traps being used everywhere. The only one we really have out in the open is the one by an exterior door in an unfinished basement. If I ever use these by other doors I will just slide it under something where the bugs can still access it but I won't see it. I will close by saying that these are a great product and superior to chemical alternatives. I could probably spray poison outside and get all the bugs but I would never be confident that it would not be tracked into my house or gotten into by pets or kids. I found this particular model to be priced better than alternatives but have not tried other sticky traps to know how they compare. I have not found any evidence that bugs have walked right over this trap and not gotten stuck as other reviewers have mentioned. The only bugs we have found in the basement since putting these up are 2-3 crickets, which would have to be suicidal to jump into one of these based on the design.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: bait**
A: don't waster you money. Can't even catch an ant. I put them where I see webs, nothing. I didn't put any baits as it didn't say to put baits.

**Q: do these have insecticide on them or only glue?**
A: They don't have insecticide nor do they have anything to attract the bugs. They're entirely passive, just a patch of very strong glue on a piece of paper. Bugs are VERY predictable. They like to skitter around where the wall meets the floor, so just put the traps near the wall and in corners.

**Q: Do they catch bed bugs also?**
A: They did not catch bed bugs for me and I had confirmed bed bugs. Waste of money in my opinion

**Q: I ordered these for brown recluses and they are not working. I've seen the spiders near the traps but not in them. Can I buy bait for them?**
A: I've caught TONS of all sorts of insects. The best bait is probably insects that will already get trapped in it. Recluses have their name for a reason. Dark and damp is where you need to set these traps if you want to get them. And also take care of any clutter if you are serious about getting rid of it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Just great!
*by L***R on June 28, 2013*

I think the only way these would be better is if they had an attractant in the middle of them. I have arachnophobia and recently had an unfortunate encounter with a very large, fat, black spider in my home. Luckily for me I was able to kill the spider though I do really dislike doing that. However I cannot feel comfortable if they are near me especially if they are indoors. I had been of the opinion that as long as they don't bother me I won't mess with them. I prefer to catch and release as I know how beneficial spiders are and I don't like killing creatures. However this one was about an inch to an inch and a half from leg tip to leg tip and crawled out from under a kitchen appliance. It was terrifying to know that something that large had been living in my home. I did some research that night and found these sticky traps. I like that there is no poison or anything to harm our cats or humans. I am not a fan of poisons. These do kill the bugs and spiders that get trapped inside, but unfortunately I couldn't find a better option and the sheer fear that I was in after that huge spider crawled out on my kitchen floor I can't help to want to kill all that are in my home, I just cannot live with them in the same place. They have already caught a few small spiders and several other bugs, which I also think it's great as I don't particularly want any bugs in my home. Indiscriminate bug catching/killing so that anything that enters into the sticky part of the trap will never bother me again. I don't know if it's good or bad that none have caught any of the huge spider's cousins or other family members. Part of me is glad that I have not seen anymore, that he/she was the only one, but I can't be sure of that. So the other part of me is hoping that some are caught so that I can have proof that they might be all gone now. Either way, I have full confidence in the stickiness of these traps. While putting them together to set out the plastic film that you pull off the sticky part got folded over so that back side of the film touched the sticky part of the trap and I could not get it off. These are very sticky and the sticky glue is very thick too so it's nice and squishy. Our traps have even caught small flying bugs, so I am very happy with them. I have also started using a deterrent, with other research I found that spiders do not like vinegar so I have been spraying that around and as well as peppermint and lemon, which I will use in my garage and unfinished basement, but worry about it's affect on my walls inside my home so it's just vinegar that I'm using inside for now. I highly recommend these, whether it's arachnophobia related or if you have dangerous spiders or bugs in your area, I believe these will work well for you!
