It has some great suggestions on what materials to buy and what tools you will need. Since it was my first model I had to purchase all the tools to work with the materials. So having this book helped me decided what materials I wanted to use for my model, what the benefits and cons were of those materials, and which tools would help me cut, glue, trim, etc. I would recommend this book to students or anyone trying to build models. As for the shipping and the state of the book, the shipping was perfect, got to my house within a week or two which was no problem because I was just reading it for my own benefit. I bought the book used for $0.77!!!!!!!!! So the price was more than amazing. The quality of the book was very good, no highlights or anything and even if there were it was less than a dollar so I wouldn't complain. Overall everything was great. Although it is a good reference, it leaves some advance topics/ideas out. Instead of an instructional book, it seems to be more of an inspirational book for beginners or people interested in building models.
