Delivering Your Mail (Community Workers) Review: Great Pre-K to elementary read - I read this today to the first to third grade kids in my stamp club. The ages are about six to ten years old. The kids enjoyed this book and it was an easy read. The pages are large and I was able to easily read this to a group of 8 kids without any moving around or complaints that the kids couldn't see well. The book covered the basic jobs of the mail carrier (of course) and a few extra little pointers about the mail service, in general, in the back. I could the simple 1-2 sentences a page made reading and asking questions from the kids easy. The pictures gave just as much info as the words did. For example, there was an image of the postal carrier delivering mail from the right side of the truck - "the mail carrier drives on the same side as the curb" This one sentence and photo sparked a 5 minute conversation about safety, why the mail company doesn't pay for two drivers, the increased cost of stamps for extra labor, etc. The photo of the mail carrier on the beack had the kids laughing and asking about mail carriers on islands in in Alaska. I'm glad we picked this book up. The kids really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this for the PreK-3 group.
