The Li Jujube Fruit Tree is a robust, grafted tree that produces large, sweet, and crisp Chinese dates. Please make sure you read and understand the nature of this tree before placing the order.. ** Li Jujube is a popular variety producing abundant, attractive, very large, mahogany-brown fruit. Sweet, crisp, and flavorful, Li’s fruit is the size and shape of a small egg with a very small, almost imperceptible seed. Li Jujube is a striking ornamental as well as a fruiting plant. This rare unique small tree displays attractive contorted branched, fine lacy foliage and abundant small, fragrant, white flowers which bloom in mid-summer. Ripen time in October. Li Jujube is also called Chinese Dates. Reddish-brown fruit becomes dry, and wrinkled when fully ripe. Attractive, easy-to-grow tree. Hardy, drought-resistant. Requires long, hot summer. Li Jujube is self-fertile. Pollinated by Lang or other jujubes for heavier crops. Mature height is 15-20 feet with a spread of 15-20 feet. It withstands wide-ranging temperatures; from over 100° F in the summertime to -28° F during winter dormancy. Require minimal chill and plentiful summer sun and heat to set fruit. Prefer sandy, well-drained soils and while tolerating many soil types, do less well in heavy, poorly drained soil. Drought tolerant, but better crop with regular water. Winter prune to maintain plant health. Jujube trees do have thorns. This fruit tree is planted and shipped in a 5 x 12" container. Trees are approximately 2+ years old. Our trees are measured by trunk caliper. Trunk size may vary slightly based on availability during the season. The average trunk size is 1/2"-5/8". Hardy is in zone 5. We may not ship the plant in an original grown container.
