Just don't over tighten the set screws and all of your cables will match up perfectly. This dock is everything i wanted and more, a nice, clean, and organized way to use my MacBook as a "desktop". So I dock it once and leave it that way. It locks in a the cables well and makes are the ports accessible. The only negative is the assembly; you need to mount each cable separately using hex screws and tighten them so they do slide when the unit is dock / undocked. If they are loose, they slide out and damage the plastic housing of the connector. Once everything is in, you have a mammoth cable harness out the back to plug everything in.
