The leather is dark on mine because I've treated it with wax and oil to waterproof it against rain and snow.The blade came heavily oiled, which is great, but it's a dirty oil, so I changed it to a more clean oil so as not to soil clothing upon touch.Personally, I use the no-spin throw technique (technically the blade rotates 1/4 spin), so I prefer very sharp knives. A couple of hours with a diamond stone got me a nice sharp and strong edge (18°) to make this knife more than a camping toy; to make it into a full fledged weapon and tool.It's funny to think it took me this long to get to this part, but this knife throws VERY well. It hits HARD. I'm going to need a harder target, because thick cardboard and Styrofoam don't stop this ugly monstrous knife! Yes, the knife is ugly, but in a rugged, manly way.My KA-BAR will remain my EDC knife, but this beast is what I'll use when I really need a blade that can be beaten to Hell and back again!I'll tell you right now, this knife is worth the $50 sticker price.UPDATE:The main part of the sheath is constructed well, but the belt loop is total garbage (see final pic). One of the loop's threads came out of the sheath (not cut, but just somehow came out), and the glue used to secure the leather ends is dissolving. In all fairness, I modified the sheath to be water resistant against rain and snow, but this is absurd. I'm going to have to use some proper heavy duty upholstery thread to redo the stitching, and go all Gorilla Glue + hot glue to insure this doesn't come undone again. If that fails, an improvized paracord strap will be attached and anchored through the eyelets, which I may do anyway. Even with this terrible design flaw and need for reworking the sheath, I still recommend this knife for use as a heavy blade for heavy use (1/4" spring steel, seriously, that's some durable s***). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tough knife *by N*** on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 22, 2022* I haven't broke it yet ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Got sent the wrong one, but idgaf *by T***Y on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 7, 2022* At first I was pissed about getting sent the wrong one, but then I actually tested this knifes throw. Whoa. I've been throwing for years, everything from Gil Hibben to cheap mall-ninja Kunai, and this is hands down the best knife I've ever thrown. This bad boy is HEAVY, so if you're inexperienced or lack arm strength it'll feel like you're lobbing a scimitar. Only down side is the sheer weight of this thing absolutely murders my targets. That's not enough to take a star away, nor is getting sent the wrong knife.
