Simply accurate
The Bushnell Back Track works well, will get you back to where you want. This a simple GPS that is a no brainer. I own other GPSs with more features however I seldom use it and when I do I must review the manual. No so with this Back Track, it is simple to use and it gets you to the points you entered. Once you are moving it points the direction accurately, remember to keep it away from your metal rifle or you will get faulty direction. This edition has 5 waypoints; I like that better than the 3 waypoint edition as I keep the hunting cabin, my deerstand, my ATV, plus 2 others you can use when tracking, or driving deer. You also have elevation, temperature and time. Buy it, you won't be disappointed, just remember it is a basic GPS only.

Bushnelll GPS tracker
It's not a full-blown GPS. I relied on it bow-hunting in somewhat unfamiliar territory in Colorado. It marks up to 5 landmarks, tells you your distance from them and points you in the right direction. It will lead you to or from these spots reliably. Perfect for heading back to camp in the dark or marking a spot you want to return. Simpler without all of the unnecessary stuff on more expensive GPS units. I highly recommend for hiking/hunting in big country.

Useful, If Used With Care
This is an interesting gadget. Most of the time it seems quick to lock onto satellites, but a few times it has taken a very long time for no apparent reason, even with a clear open view of the sky. Also, it is very sensitive to being near metal. It has a lot of trouble with directions when in a car. However, I have walked with it quite a few times now and found it to be quite reliable and accurate when away from man-made metal objects. It might be off a few degrees at times, but hey, I can seldom walk in a perfectly straight line to my destination anyway. I have not experienced the large deviation (180 degrees error) reported by some other people unless there was metal nearby. (One time I was standing near a cast iron drainage cover and that threw it off significantly until I moved.) As with other GPS devices, I would see this as a useful tool in the tool kit, but don't leave your brain at home and rely entirely on this.

Works Great but make sure you get what you ordered.
I would not have paid the extra money just to have the Bear Grylls name on this if it was not upgraded somehow. It states that it marks ten locations when the regular Bushnell only marks five locations. This one also only marks five locations. This is the only reason that I purchased this one. I am a photographer and would have liked to had one that marked more locations. Why wold anybody pay so much more for something that does the exact same thing? $78.95 for the regular red version, $103.36 for the green regular version, and $120.00 for the Bear Grylls version. They all do the exact same thing except the Bear Grylls version was supposed to mark 10 locations and the other two mark five locations. I even called Bushnell and they cannot understand why it is listed on this site and a couple of others this way. It is listed right on the package as only marking 5 locations. I am not happy and do not just want a refund. I want what I paid for. A BackTrack D-Tour that marks more then 5 locations. I saved the page and printed the page for when it gets changed so that nobody can claim that it has never stated that it marked 10 locations. Please find a way to make this right by me. This is nothing but bate and switch in order to get rid of merchandise that is left over in the warehouse before they start to sell the updated versions. It will get you back to your location within about 20 yards. The one that I received does not have the cookies so I am waiting on the replacement to see how that works. Cookies help you follow the exact trail out that you took in. That way you are not left just following an arrow back to your starting point. You never know what might be in between the two points if you have to follow a straight line. You could run into something like a river that you then have to find your own way around. I cannot wait to get my replacement. I will let you know how the actual one works after I get it.

Perfect for my needs.
This is a basic GPS, which meets my needs as a property owner. I have 60 acres of woods (amid a large state forest area), and I wanted to be able to mark my property line accurately. This device allows you to establish a home position, plus 4 additional points, which you can return to from anywhere. So I marked my cabin, then each of the 4 corners of the property. Now I can plot a direct line for each side. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of more expensive GPS models, but it has all I need.

Software is nice when it work which is almost never
The device itself does what I wanted which was to track my day hikes and add them to a map so I could review my little mini adventure. I don't want to use my phone and the device is great I have no complaints. The software has been CRAP. I cannot get it to show my hikes and the software itself has caused issues with my MacBook Air and also with my Windows laptop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and the result is always the same: my computer slows down and the software will not link to the gps. I cannot get any feedback from Bushnell and have given up on them. I read reviews and it seems like the software works well for other just not me. I am looking for something else.

Disappointed
I got this and at first liked it. It is a basic GPS unit, fairly easy to use, but a number of small details added up to a big disappointment. First off, the battery life is poor, enough so that the Trip feature, unless you're out for an afternoon stroll, is nearly useless. If you're out longer than an hour or so, you're unlikely to finish the trip before the unit runs out of juice and forgets all about the trip you're taking. I was willing to live with that, as the other navigational features seemed robust and useful, plus the unit picks up satellites quickly and doesn't let them go. I started using the upload software that allowed me to upload trips and that was kind of cool, but when I tried to share them on FB, the only thing that I managed to share was a picture of the device and a little HTML code. Not a showstopper, but not what was promised. Then, a couple weeks into my ownership, the LCD display developed a series of horizontal lines that obscured the display and made me wonder how long the thing was actually going to last. Bushnell is a well respected name in optics; I have a pair of Bushnell binoculars I bought almost forty years ago and they still work great. I was hesitant to pick up a GPS made by them as it's not their first line of products, but their reputation for quality and Bear Grylls's endorsement made me put my concerns aside. Sorry to say, I was wrong.

Very easy to learn
Very easy to learn. Keep it horizontal and not vertical and don't forget to calibrate it in the figure 8 pattern as shown in the instructions. I took my labeler and printed out the name of the function buttons i.e. Power, Mark, Trip etc I cut the self adhesive label tapes small enough so that it would fit on the flat surface of the angled vertical edge directly above each corresponding function button. Makes it easier to look at a glance which button is what especially when reading the directions and always having to refer to the first page of the instruction manual. Reason: You always want to make sure that you know for sure which is the Mark button. You press the power button to change between location icons. You wouldn't want to accidently press the Mark button over your return to origin location when all you wanted to do was press the button that changes the location icon. That would suck! Happy hiking!
