I purchase 5 and 10 lb bags of ice and would like to keep cubes in the ice bin.** A: OK, by the volume of the container, it would hold about 7.35 pounds of liquid water. Ice cubes will not fill the volume completely -- i.e. there will be a volume of air because the cubes don't stack perfectly. I'd think this container would hold at least 3 pounds of ice cubes, maybe 4 pounds. The larger the ice cubes, the less weight of them could be held in the container, as more air space would result from the larger cubes (lower "packing factor"). These trays make some pretty small ice cubes. I'd say at least three trays of these cubes would fit. **Q: Are the ice trays stackable without the lids?** A: I’m sorry I only got a bucket with a scoop. And it has only one tray on top with a lid.
