You need to measure & cut squares; then use the half shell to create 2 pieces. There are 4 sizes of half shell templates. I understand now that it's hard to cut inner curve but with the fan shape you make your "L".There are four fan shaped heavy plastic templates A B C D to use on 4",5"6"7" square fabrics which makes diameter of 3.5", 4.5", 5.5", 6.5" circles.Need to read the booklet.
