This is a well made, great functioning source of portable solar powered light. Strong enough lite to read by, for sure, for hours. Ive been testing it in low sun and winter conditions in a window facing west/southwest on the east coast usa. it will charge decently under these poor conditions (only direct sunlight for 3 or 4 hours, just before sunset). There is a flashing indicator light to let you know how well it is charging....1 flash is slow, 3 fast flashes means it is charging fast, with good sun. It flashed once when i had it in indirect light, and twice or 3 times when in direct sunlight. (mostly one flash meaning it was slow to charge, which is to be expected this time of year). So it should do really well at all other times of the year, especially summer. The power lasts for at least 6 hours on a weakish charge, on high. This is one of those solar lights that really works well! Im always price conscious, so i got mine from the "new, slightly used" amazon warehouse for better than half price, and its like new, and works awesome.update 2/27/17 = i could not be more satisfied. These things are now going for $50 each, new - which is too high, but essentially you are paying double because they donate one every time they sell one at this price, so you are making a contribution to someone in need that lives half a world away. I strongly suggest you try buying one of the new, but slightly used units, if still available from the amazon warehouse. This unit charges well, even if no sun, cloudy, and indirect winter light levels. My only fear with this item is dropping it, not sure how it would hold up, even though its well built, i wouldnt want to test that, lol.My bottom line is, after using a month, is even better.....i highly suggest this item, ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great light during storm season *by T***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 3, 2015* It finally happened: we had a spring storm that killed our electricity for a few hours. We had a couple of these lights that had been sitting around mostly unused until that night. My wife stuck hers on an empty bottle at the kitchen table and continued her studies that the power outage had interrupted. I clothes-pinned mine on the ceiling fan chain in the bathroom and went ahead with my shower and shave. Then I moved to my desk and enjoyed a long-delayed read. When we got sleepy, we got ready for bed. No problems at all. These are great little lights; they adapt to many usage situations (sit on a table and offer a choice of angles, use as a flashlight, stick on a bottle as a lamp) and they last a LONG time on a charge. They never dimmed at all during the outage; they just put out a nice, bright, white light. They did a lot better than I did adjusting to the situation: when I left the bathroom carrying my light, I automatically reached out and hit the wall switch to turn off the overhead light. Sturdy construction. I had purchased less expensive lanterns at the same time as this one last year, and they are not holding up well. This one is so efficient, I am using it as kitchen night light, but also as flashlight and reading light. Well. So, I bought this Wakawaka again this year, and having two is great! Don't need ceiling or other lamp. It is kind of expensive, but I have decided it's worth it. Right now, 2 are just right. I used to put them in direct sunlight outside to charge, now, usually on windowsill, and they work perfectly! Don't look straight into the bulbs, they are very bright.
