I found the smell of this lard to be pleasant. This lard was the most affordable for the price. I look forward to a healthier diet. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ AMAZING TO COOK WITH *by A***R on July 13, 2024* After dealing with heart and cholesterol issues for 4 years now I started thinking what has changed that so many people are dealing with this. I am no means a doctor, but using common since. My mother, 85 years old still works cleaning businesses about 30 hours a week, keeps up with a 1500 sq ft home and mows the yard everything. She actually had to support me about 3 years ago when i had tripple bypass( for those wondering im 6ft 215 lbs). I look at their generation, they grew up on lard rendered from pigs. they had gravy often. fried foods like chicken. Yet my mom has no high blood pressure or heart trouble. So i started thinking about all these so called vegetable oils and olive oil that is suppose to be so good for you. Found out the other day olive oil can be counter-fitted so much there is no telling whats in it. So I thought I am going back old school. So I bought me a 5 gallon bucket. First thing I noticed was how clean the lard looked. Almost like water. Then I quickly saw how it would get up to temp so much faster. Like a 3rd or less time than vegetable oil. First thought, it would smoke and get to hot fast. Totally opposite. Holds up, doesn't smoke up the place or leave a fried stinch smell in kitchen. I re-use my oil and again I am impressed. Usually after frying stuff about 3 times with vegetable oil I am throwing it out. This stuff, still clear, no smell. I am by no means being sponsored by this product. I rarely leave reviews. but wanted to sit down and give this the recognition it deserves being im very pleased with it. I would guess this bucket will last me a year to 2 years easy. My guess is ill save 50 to 65 percent of what i use to spend on vegetable oil. probably more. I like to be realistic but this stuff just doesn't quit. Its a big chunk of change up front but good lord i use to dread picking up 7 dollar bottle of vegetable oils every other week or even more. I used 4 ladels in a medium size sauce pan and only needed 3. And the food i have cooked is so much lighter after fried. it doesn't have to sit there on a paper towel forever. most will leave after lifting it from oil. Hope this has been helpful.
