The driver interface of this chip does follow the RS232 Protocol however, the voltage read out is limited to +5V if your device uses true RS232 wiring then this device will not work. True RS232 wiring has a reversed(voltage shift) voltage that ranges from -15v to +15v (3V min register). In short, unless your device only needs RXD/TXD/GRD within 0 to +5V don't expect it to work. **Q: Will this cable allow me to connect a headset with mic (Plantronics CO52) to my computer to?** A: no, it is a usb to RS232 serial adapter with rj12 interface.
