It works !
Not the cheapest fly/Midge repeller but it works.Follow the instructions. Insert the blue repellent pad, light the gas heating element and leave outdoors where you want to sit for at least 10 min before you want to sit out.Leave it on, it works. Sit back relax and enjoy a midge free evening. The replacement repellent pads and gas canisters are quite expensive but so far they appear to repel the bugs.

Midge repeller
We have a Campervan and travel regularly to the Scottish west coast and can be plagued by midges on some days. I was sceptical how the thermacell would work but as we sat under an awning of our Campervan, with the thermacell on at our feet (ventilation essential), we could see other campervan residents dashing for cover while we sat out comfortably enjoying the evening warmth not being bothered by the wee beasties.

Powered by gas canisters!
I don’t think the product description makes it particularly clear that this is powered by gas and so can become very hot to touch! I was expecting it to be battery powered and rechargeable but actually it’s a little canister of gas that powers it - so you have to buy 2 consumables! In terms of effectiveness I haven’t actually been bitten by any insects when it’s been in use so I can’t fault it on that front!

Just amazing
I was very sceptical about the effectiveness of this and tonight I put it to the test. I am sat by Loch Long in Scotland and tonight the midges were in a swarm around me on the patio area. I had smidge the rated midge repellent on and it held them a few inches away but they kept trying so I gave the Thermacell a go. I fired it up as instructed and it took about 10 mins but they vanished and haven't been back. This is a must for summers in Scotland etc. If you search the Internet you can but refills that equate to 120 hours of protection for about £50. Well worth it

Doesn’t last long and I still got bit by mosquitoes
Bought this for Spain in recommendation of friend but it did not work. The butane ran out very quickly and the refills are not cheap.Would not recommend.

Absolutely works.
Ok nothing short of brilliant. Not in the business of writing reviews but this works superbly. Live in Scotland. Midges. Not a single bite or midge in sight. Have bought a second one and now have a completely midge free zone as have big garden and keeps the decking zone completely free of pests..Going to be great for going away in caravan too when eating outdoors at night. Cannot rate this highly enough. I felt compelled to review as I’ve actually bought something that really does what it’s meant to do perfectly. Rare indeed.

Dinner in the garden without mosquitoes!
This is a good investment. As someone who loves eating outside but always ends up being a meal for mosquitoes, I am absolutely delighted with this.

Midge control
Works really well . First time use had to do restart several times . Away for 1 week so should have bought more cartridges as empty after about 12 hrs . Now ordered more mats & cartridges for next trip
