I ordered three and two out of the three were like this. If they do work when I need them to then great but I think I might have the flashlight near by just in case. I think you might want to shop for something better. It stopped working when I changed the batteries. I then discovered that it is a problem with the battery contact. It depends on the make of the battery, the contact on the + side of the lantern would not come into contact with the battery. I fixed the problem with some aluminum foil. The manufacturer should improve the design.
