You can really hear the Everly's voices mature from 1950s to the 1970s. They went from adolescent voices to more adult ones, starting specifically from 1960 to 1964. Phil's solo songs really captured my heart. Phil's solos seem more punctuated with passion. Such a sweet and innocent voice. Nice to hear him sing without Don, who dominated the duos songs, even by singing lead on Phil's song compositions. In the early recordings on this CD, you can really hear Don's very charming twang, which is really high pitched. Very even representation for each of the Brothers, which is in itself rare as we usually find more songs sung by Don than Phil. This CD is even better than I anticipated. I already ordered the companion CD "Too Good To Be True." Not being a fan of the old country-western twang and story-telling of sad love gone wrong music this cd is not one I'll listen to often, but am glad to have as part of their historical path through their musical careers. These are from the days when "care" was sung as "keer" by the brothers, which always makes me chuckle and the very young, high-pitched and nasal-heavy voices singing. At the time they came on the scene they were so different that none of that was noticed, of course. I completely enjoy being taken back to those early years by listening to the early recordings now and then.
