## Questions & Answers

**Q: Anybody use this on a wider neck - 1.75 inches? If so, how far does it go up?**
A: Inside diameter is about 2 1/8"

**Q: will this capo fit on a classical guitar ?**
A: yes, i use it on a standard dreadnought guitar. i use it with metal strings though. i see no reason it would not work for other strings.

**Q: Could this work for a telecaster with a 7.25 neck?**
A: Yes. The metal bar is pretty much straight, but the plastic cover will conform to the fretboard. I have 2 Strats and 1 Tele...all vintage spec'd necks with 7.25 necks and this is the capo I use on them. I have a Schrubb capo designed for the 7.25 radius and I prefer the Hamilton. In my opinion I find the design of this capo is better because the pressure applied to the strings is equal across the fretboard. To my ears, clip-on capos and the Schrubb apply slight more pressure one side. Others may disagree, but I've found I have to tweak the tuning far less when I move the Hamilton capo around when compared to clip on designs. They are slower to adjust, in my opinion that's their only drawback.

**Q: Is there a way to "clip" this onto the guitar like a traditional capo?**
A: if you mean to clip it onto the guitar when not really using it as a capo, ie. storing it for use later, then no. relative to a traditional jaw like capo,
this is a slow install and removal and really no way to hook it onto another part of the guitar other than when it is installed on the neck.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I am glad I bought two of these Hamilton
*by M***X on July 31, 2017*

I am glad I bought two of these Hamilton, Thumb-Screw capos. The Elliott/McKenney designs of a thumb-screw capo sell for about $150. Now Shubb is offering one for $75. This Hamilton capo sells for less than $7 and it's a winner. It is made of thick, sturdy steel like a John Pearse Ol' Reliable capo (which is brass), and it has a clasping mechanism like a Paige capo--one notched slot going into a second slot. It uses clear surgical tubing for the sleeve that presses down the strings--not perfect, but works well. I would like to retrofit a shubb-style rubber sleeve onto it, but it does not fit. This capo WILL rest on the neck headstock when not in use, good for parking lot picking or when you're out in a field somewhere at a festival--very tidy and convenient. It is all metal, except for a thick felt pad that protects the back of your guitar neck, and the end of the thumbscrew is plastic (the threaded screw itself is metal). If it had an all-metal thumbscrew it would be indestructible. It is still a sturdy, high-quality, well-made device. All capos have advantages and disadvantages, but for $6.50 or so, you will win with this capo. You tighten it with the thumbscrew so your strings ring clear without too much pressure that will put it out of tune.I am very glad I bought 2 of these capos. Even if it's not your main favorite, it's good to have in your case for those times you need something to keep above the nut.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple yet useful
*by K***R on December 27, 2011*

This capo is a very simple design but it works very well. The only downfall is you cannot switch frets or remove it quickly as needed in a stage situation. But for learning or a recreational player such as myself it is the perfect product as it applies even pressure to all strings and does not create the buzzing that the pistol grip spring capos do. All in all I'd recommend it to anyone who is not needing a stage speed switching.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty dang good capo of this style for the price
*by D***N on June 21, 2020*

Not as good as the Paige I have but at about one third the price is more than adequate. It is just a bit bulkier but no problem for me. I use this on a Mini Martin and it works fine. You don't have to screw it down very much to get a solid tone so it doesn't mess with the intonation. The pressure is pretty even across all of the strings. I did soften some edges with a small file where the clasp closes to make is work a little smoother. I like this style of capo because it doesn't get in my way like most other styles do. It's not fast, but works well. The bar is flat but works pretty good on fingerboards that are flat or have a mild radius. My Paige's bar is slightly arched to better conform to radiused fingerboards but I've had no big problem with this one yet. I'm not sure but it may not fit wide classical guitar necks. You would need to check. But the price is so good and it's solidly made. I'm going to get a couple more to keep with my less used instruments. I do wish I could figure out an easy way to make the bar have even just the slightest curve for the neck radius, but again, it has worked on all my guitars but some I do have to tighten it a little more to get a clean buzz free sound. Perhaps a bit softer plastic over the strings?
