Of course, there is always the suction problem of pump connections and hose length, etc. but overall, it does a good job with exception of cleaning the sides. not weighted well enough to keep the head from "floating". **Q: New pool owner; what creates the suction this uses? Do I need a special vacuum or do I use a ShopVac?** A: 1.) You have to have a pole that fits it. 2.) You have to have a very long hose to fit it. 3.) You have to have an adaptor for the intake that fits the long hose I mentioned in number two. 4.) You have to have a pump sufficient enough. *I had all the parts I needed left over from my old vacuum kit. I am going to put the link to that kit here and hope the links works for you to see it. That kit worked great but it was old and finally cracked from a kid throwing it down. I used my parts to fit into this. As for my pump, I used to have a paper filter pump but switched to a sandpump. Love the sandpump and it has great power. My pool is just an Intex 16 x 48.
