I have owned two juicers before this one. One I wouldn't recommend to my enemy. Burned the motor up after about twenty juice makings. The second was a replacement I bought and I am very happy with the Cuisinart CJE-1000, fantastic juicer and will probably keep it for a back up juicer. While having this one, I did my homework on masticating juicers. I looked in stores, read more reviews. Talk to others on their top rated juicers. It was tough, because there are so many..... I decided on this Omega Vertical VSJ843RR juicer for the following reasons: warranty 15 years, can you believe that, then 43 rpm (faster isn't better) and a tough 150 watt motor. Having a large feeding tube wasn't all that appealing, but the tray to the feeding tube was. I have a 3" feeding tube on my Cuisinart and still wished it had a tray. Now the most important part, THE JUICE..... man, it is so smooth, I know it takes a little more time to prepare, but the reward is so worth it. The real offset is the cleanup. It is so easy. I think the most boring part of juicing is the cleanup. And you kind of dread doing do and I can honestly say the omega is a breeze. Check out John on you tube discount juicer. And now the price, yeah it's a little pricey but don't be in a hurry in buying your juicer. Research and when the time is right you'll find a decent price value. Now here goes "I Love This Omega VSJ 843RR juicer" yeah, i said it. The RR stand for Round and Red. Review: Solid machine... a serious juicer. - This is a good juicer. Strong motor, efficient extraction, quality construction, and serious engineering. Of course, this comes with a price... it's a rather expensive tool, but the quality of the plastic (material as well as thickness/strength) puts the Omega as first class in terms of construction. The stainless filter screen is very well engineered, with absolutely smooth/seamless walls, and two sizes of perforation to reduce solids as the mastication proceeds. Tip: don't rush the juicer. I did manage to cause it to pause by feeding it too fast... I stacked carrots in the chute... and that was asking too much. For the harder veggies, feed a bit slower, and/or cut them down a bit more. The ONE issue that I discovered, was that the internal solids port is SO SMALL that the juicer tends to want to clog... this causes food to pack into the auger, and fill the screen... which in turn forces the auger up into the lid, effectively jamming the entire thing. This is caused by the more fibrous foods, like ginger and celery. Cut these foods down to small bits so they can pass through the port more easily. IF the auger jams into the lid (you'll know, because you won't be able to turn the lid!), I found that simply running it in reverse for a few seconds relieved the pressure, and allows disassembly. I was very happy with this purchase. I used it to juice apples, carrots and beets on a fairly regular basis.
