Making my own sushi isn't something new to me, but I wanted something special for my son to use. Unfortunately, this is not the kit that is something special for my son. We were dissapointed from the moment we opened the shipping package as the kit box had fallen apart and the kit contents were rolling about. No worries though, that's something we could totally overlook. However, as soon as we started looking at the kit pieces, it was clear that quality was not a consideration when our particular kit was manufactured. Plastic was still attached between the cutting sections (the guides to cut your rolls into evenly proportioned pieces), and the forms are HUGE! So huge, that a normal sized adult would have a difficult time not taking 2-3 bites for each piece. The form pieces did not fit well together and the recipe book is a joke. There are no recipes or different roll suggestions. In fact, the instructions for assembling the form for each roll are lacking. When we finally did get it put together, forcing the form pieces together, we made our rolls, but had to worry and pay attention that we didnt get pieces of plastic in our rolls from the cutting sections. Not fun at all.If this kit had been what I expected it to be, it would have ROCKED almost soley because of the shape choices. Even more so...the kids were happy and want to help the next time we make sushi. All the items are made of a hard sturdy plastic and were boxed neatly in the box.
