It's not quite flat plastic, but not much shinier. Still, I love the styling, the shape is fun, and it's easy to change out. I'd give 4.5 stars if that was an option, but I like glittery and bold, possibly more than most people, so maybe I'm being too picky. Overall, I'd recommend it - it's still cool and sparkly, and not over the top like some covers with overdone, blinding bling. I absolutely love the shape, and the 'hardware/rivets' on the edges absolutely look like metal. I haven't used it enough to know how it wears, but I'm amazed how well it's designed and the end look.
