The OM5 vocal dynamic microphone is made with an extremely tight and uniformly controlled hypercardioid polar pattern which isolates the vocals from the rest of the instruments on stage or in a studio.

Review: Cool mic, love it - Bought one, was awesome, bought another. If you want clear, bright and loud dynamic, it’s freakin awesome. Great isolation too. Bought an omx-m too, also awesome. My personal favorites both now, over my Beta 58a and e835. (And they’re not bad either lol) It’s what I was looking for. Give it a 5 at that price. Cool mic.
Review: Best non-condenser mic for the female voice. - This is just about the “truest” sounding dynamic (i.e.,non-condenser) mic you can buy, and it’s great for female vocals. I’m a folksinger but it’ll also work for rock if you prefer an undistorted sound. If your sound system lacks phantom power (necessary for condenser mics), this is the best mic for anyone who doesn’t want a bass-boost or proximity effect and wants the trebles to come through without ringing or feeding back. I haven’t had it as long as I did my Shures (SM 57 and Beta 58A), so I don’t know if it’s as sturdy--but it’s sturdier than the Shure Beta 87A I use with phantom-power systems.

**Q: I have a shure clip on my K & M stand. Can this mic be clipped to that clip?**

**Q: Will this mic be good for studio application (recording vocals)? I hear a lot of comments indicating its performance in live venues, but not studio**
A: Typically people use large diaphragm condenser microphones in the studio, like the Audio Technica AT4033. You can use dynamic mics in the studio, but typically people prefer the sound of large diaphragm condenser microphone. You just can't use most condensers as a live vocal mic, because they are too sensitive and pick up everything on stage.

**Q: Is this a good mic choice for a quiet singer? (yes, years of lessons, good mic technique, instruments don't overpower. great voice, just not strong.)**
A: Yes!  The Audix OM5 is a really great mic for a variety of singers.  My wife and I perform as a duo and each use one.  My wife is also a "quiet singer" so I have to increase her gain and volume on our PA.  The OM5 does not feed back even when we turn it up.  We typically play through a Bose tower and the sound comes from behind us.  If you have any feedback issues when you turn up the mic, just turn the mic slightly away from the speaker and try to keep your head between the mic an speaker.  We also have several Shure SM58s that we use when hosting Open Mics.  Both the Shure and Audix mics are well built with tight connections and have held up well.  The Shures will pick up your voice from "around" the mic, but be sure to sing directly into the Audix as it is uni-directional.  We have been using Shure SM58s for 8 years and Audix OM5s for 4 years and highly recommend them.

This mic just blew me away. This mic poduces a clear and powerfull sound without much stress to the singer and any sound enhancement. An amateur sound engineer (louds of gear but lacks the knowledge) had problems with getting it right because he's used to cheap and old mics. He really could not handle this sound quality. Believe it or not you can screw up good sound easier than fixing a bad one. A studio engineer offered me money when he heard what this mic did. That and it's live performance is proof to me that this is an awsome mic.
