Taking Homer's classic mythical tale and turning it into a graphic novel with incredible, theatrical, stage-like pop-ups is a brilliant concept! The classic story, with its mythical heros, monsters & villains are all in place, but perhaps with a little more grit & humor incorporated into the visuals and story telling. Visually imagining an old story in a new way. You might think, "I'll just glance through it" but you will find yourself captured and intrigued by the storytelling. Great for adults who know the story...it will be new again...and I strongly suspect ideal for slightly older children with a sense of adventure. It arrived as promised, "New" and just the cover alone is mesmerising. Paper engineerings work wonderfully esp the part where the man turns into a pig! And what about the pull tabs on the main popups! The moving oars on the boat was a wow-moment for sure. My only problem with this book is that because there are so many flaps (up-down, side-to-side), I found reading the comic story a little confusing and choppy. But I am still glad I finally got this book, the work that has gone into making/designing/conceptualising is very well appreciated.
