I resisted buying them for a few years, out of sheer consumer indignation, and also because they did not came in colors that matched my out-of-print mill colors (this was a particular source of irritation). Lacking the caps, I set the mills on little ceramic saucers to catch the pepper dust. It's much better, however, to have a perfectly-fitted silicon cap. I am very pleased with what arrived in the mail, as the caps were thicker and sturdier than I expected, and fitted the 8" mills perfectly - they don't fall off, but peel off easily when you are ready to use the mill. They're easy to wash. If you are irritated that they don't come in the "right" colors, try finding the closest match, or even a contrast color, to brighten up your set. It doesn't look bad. Of all the colors, I think black and white caps would be very dull, unless you are matching a black and white mill set. I got Marseille blue and it's a nice rich blue tone. Good luck.
