This means that any software that requires you to do this will not work - e.g. "OBDLink" "Torque (Lite)" and "OBD Auto Doctor" do work; they automatically connect to the device. "Torque" automatically connected, for "OBD Auto Doctor" I needed to adjust its settings, selecting "connect automatically when starting" and restarted it. Not tested yet on PC nor IOS [edit] I also tried a much more expensive OBDLink MX 426101, which combined with the OBDLink app, allowed me to access Ford diagnostics that this device did not.
