The max size is A4 paper (8.27 x 11.69 inches), so in theory 12" is max. But you could just eye-ball it. It works great, so for the cheaper cost, maybe eye-balling is worth it for you... **Q: Does the handle fold down for easy storage?** A: It does not fold down...but you could unscrew the side bolts and take the handle off...not that that method would be convenient, because then you'd have to put it back on with each use. **Q: How do you adjust the machine for the binding?** A: I'm not positive what you mean by 'adjust', but I think what mean is just how to bind as well?? When punching the holes, pull the lever down; when binding, insert the comb in the back of the 'teeth' and push the lever back to open the comb.
