I bought this in September for a Christmas gift for my daughter, she opened it on Christmas Day and even after changing the batteries a few times the toy does not work. As this was what my 2 yr old had wanted from Santa for months she was so upset that it did not work. I'm super surprised at the quality of the toy- it's durable plastic and is not cheaply made!! One of the parade floats even spins. The wand doesn't make it turn easily, but it does move it forward. It also didn't come in a "display" box so you truly cannot see the toy for what it is until you open the box.
