Help Your Kids with Computer Coding: A Unique Step-by-Step Visual Guide, from Binary Code to Building Games Review: This Book is Fantastic - I'm very pleased with this book. I am 57 yo and am learning programming for fun. I have been working through this book and I came upon a Udemy class for Python. The class didn't explain how to get going in Python if you are on a Mac very well. I was going to have to quit the class when I remembered this book. It walked me through my dilemma step by step and got me up an running in no time. The first part of the book that walks you through programming with Scratch is super fun and I would think kids would really enjoy that...I know I did! This is a really good book for introducing beginners to programming/coding. I like this book line so well I bought some more of their books--one on Math and I might get their anatomy book too. An excellent resource, well written and colorful. Review: Unlocking a new world - I used this to teach a local coding club class. The pictures and directions are perfect for people that consider themselves newbies to the world of coding. After reading this I felt one notch above a newbie, but also felt like it unlocked a new world to me. Using Scratch and getting involved with the communities has helped me become even more proficient at using coding in a classroom setting.

Unlocking a new world

Good for beginners but a bit outdated now
Great for kids and adults; easy to follow for beginners. It’s a bit outdated now, though

This is soooooo fun for kids who are interested in making things happen ...
This is soooooo fun for kids who are interested in making things happen to graphics. The instructions are written very well. We only started with the scratch program which is the easiest, but paging through the book I can tell it is quite consistent. We actually borrowed the book from the library but I quickly ordered a copy so we could keep using it.

Better than computing for dummies!
I bought this as an additional resource to learn binary code and python. It helped a lot! More so than the “dummies” books!

Good book for kids; could even be good for adults.
It's a very clear, concise book written like a textbook. I could see this being helpful to adults wanting to learn to code; trying to jump in to something like, say, JavaScript as a first language would be foolish, while Scratch teaches a person the basics of coding in a drag-and-drop environment. If you know someone with a passing interest in computers but who thinks computers just do random things to spite them, this could be helpful as well.

Love the clean and simple graphical presentation and use of colour to maintain my kids’ interest in the content.

I bought this for my 10 year old son who wanted to learn some programming. I was sooooo pleased with this book. Very easy to follow. Lots of pictures and graphics. And it's nice that it covers two different languages (Scratch and Python). The first is a great for teaching kids the basic principles (and works on any computer with access to the web... PC, Mac, Linux, whatever) and the second is great for once the young programmer gets a bit older and wants to learn something more challenging and "real world".
