I bought it to replace a Kohler K-11742 head that was about 15 years old and despite being soaked in vinegar about once a year to remove calcium build up was giving up the ghost. That head has a simple single spray pattern and also has a 2.5 gpm flow restrictor built in which can't be removed without tearing it up. It is also made of some kind of hard plastic , unlike the old Kohlers which were solid metal. This new head is heavier. It appears to be solid brass and excellent quality. It also has the simple one spray pattern I was looking for. Since it has no flow restrictor it puts out water like crazy. Wow. I can rinse shampoo out of my hair in a few seconds verses about a minute with the old one. I used to have to wait 30-40 seconds to get hot water to show up but now it is just a few seconds. But our water pressure (75 psi) is too high to start with because we are at the end of the line on a cul-de-sac in a down-hill location and this new head, delightful as it is, was using too much water . So I ended up buying a set of flow restrictors here on desertcart (12 of three different rates, for under $5) and tried all 3 and went with the one that saved water AND gave the best performance. I really like that with this shower head I make the decision to use a flow restrictor, and if so how much restriction to use, instead of somebody making the decision for me and forcing it on me. I know this is a pretty basic showerhead, and it doesn’t need all the bells and whistles but this thing is fantastic. It has increased the water pressure so much that it takes half the time now to rinse the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair. It just feels so good.
