Review: See those user photos?! Imagine what it can do for an infant/toddler! - I'm a pediatric ER nurse and we never know what type of patient's we'll have to stick an IV in. Dehydrated toddler, michelin man infant, different skin tones, etc. This handy little tool brings out veins that are nearly impossible to see and/or palpate without it. Tourniquet or not. I recently had to stick a very very chunky infant- nothing was palpable or visible. One of my medics let me borrow his Wee Sight, and I fell in love with it. It brought out a gorgeous vein in the hand that I was able to stick a 22g IV in- smooth as butter. After we came out of the room I immediately hopped on to desertcart and ordered mine. It will now be a constant staple on me at all times, ready to make me look like the IV queen! The curved surface of it is a definite plus. It allows you to keep hold of it under the person's hand/foot with your hand. It helps to stabilize the hand or foot as well, letting you get a better grip on the wiggly toddler/baby. The power button is located on the back of the handle, so it is very difficult to accidentally turn it off in the middle of your stick. What a nightmare that'd be! I uploaded several user photos to give you an idea how easy it is to see the veins using the Wee Light. I'm 27 and ~ 108 lbs. It brings out the veins even better than what the photos show. It's so simple, yet does wonders for babies and toddlers. If you're on the fence about purchasing it or not, hopefully the 3 photos help persuade you. I wish I had bought mine sooner!!!
Review: Went home after a shift and bought this - I love how well this works for seeing through this find baby hand and arm veins. I went home after I realized a place I was working didn’t have these (although I got and secured an AC site). I missed the clearness of seeing veins with this and boy was I glad I got it because I was able to draw labs and start an IV on a baby a lot easier the next shift with this tool. Very worth the money! 3 triple A batteries make this very bright red light work great! It lives in my work bag until I’m working nursery then it’s always going to be handy!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it have to be dark in the room?**
A: Not necessarily but preferably. Just turn off the light and voilà! There are very small veins that you could see better.

**Q: Can anyone kindly suggest/recommend an adult version of this product, please? I need specific brand info. Thx!**
A: Try the laser sights- the ones that you use from above

**Q: Is this Wee Sight for adult, pediatric or both uses?**
A: I mainly use the Wee Sight for infants and children under 2 years. I could see it also used on the elderly who have thin skin. I find that it makes the family a little more comfortable that you are taking the time to really look and not do a blind stick. Just on my unit, some nurses love it and some hate it.

**Q: will this work in well iluminated room? or just in dark rooms?**
A: Hi. It works better in darkened rooms

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very useful IV start adjunct for pediatric patients
*by J***N on July 17, 2012*

I'm an IV resource nurse at the children's hospital in San Diego and I've been using this light successfully for years. I've joked that it makes me look like an IV genius because it's so helpful in finding and cannulating veins on babies and small children. It also has limited usefulness in some situations on older patients by holding the light at an oblique angle to the limb in the area you expect to find a vein. I've even used this light to find antecubital veins on smaller kids. However, I have yet to see any one product that is useful in all situations for locating veins on all patients. This vein light must be used with room lights dimmed and either a low background light or someone standing by to turn on the room lights once the vein has been accessed. It tends to be less useful on patients with very dark skin or who are obese, including very chubby babies. We have a couple of large white light transilluminators (on rolling stands) available to us which can be more helpful on these patients. I just purchased a Wee Sight for myself (because I'm transferring departments), and there are a couple of caveats: 1) No product warranty. They tend to hold up pretty well, but I've also seen one of the three LED lights fail within a relatively short time, which reduces its effectiveness. 2) Being small, they are very easy to lose track of, and at $90 each... Attaching a lanyard makes it less likely to lose; I used green oxygen tubing, for visibility and easy cleaning.
