MegaGear "Ever Ready" Protective Leather Camera Case, Bag for Canon Powershot SX520 HS, Canon Powershot SX530 HS (Dark Brown)

The title says leather, and a review praised the leather quality, but this is not leather. The description says "PU leather," which I assume means polyurethane -- my fault for not reading more carefully. There's a fitted piece that goes on the bottom of the camera, which bolts to the threaded insert where you'd attach a tripod. The head of that bolt is a thumbscrew with a threaded insert to attach the tripod, so it's quite stable as long as the bolt is well-attached to the camera. Unfortunately, you can't watch the bolt go in -- the fitted pleather piece covers it up -- so you can't tell how far it went in or if the threads were properly machined and fit correctly. I'm a little worried about stripping the camera's threaded insert with improperly machined threads, as I'll have to remove and re-bolt the piece to the camera every time I get the battery out. Another concern is that the snaps on the fitted piece -- which hold the rest of the camera case on -- are very stiff, so you have to push hard to get the snap to seat. I'm not sure how delicate this camera is, but I don't like pushing on it so hard. The snaps are too close together, so you can't attach a tripod quick-release plate without covering the snaps, which means you either can't open the camera case or you can't secure it once it's open. Finally, the panel that covers the LCD screen doesn't fit very well -- it will protect the camera if I drop it, but it doesn't stop anything from getting into the case and scratching the screen. I can solve that one with a screen protector or by stuffing a little foam in the part where the lens goes, which will push the camera out a little so there isn't such a big gap at the screen portion. Not sure if any of this makes sense to someone who doesn't have the case in hand -- overall, I'll keep the case because it looks good and, well, it's here, but if I actually carried the camera around with me I think I'd want something that either fits better or allows me to use a tripod quick-release plate.

This case looks really sharp, is well made and protects the camera well. You do have to remove the base piece to replace the battery or pull the card. But I don't have a problem with that, I really love this cover.

Soddisfatta dell'acquisto. Solo la trovo non perfettamente aderente alla forma della fotocamera, ma questo è normale, trattandosi di una custodia che deve vestire più modelli.
