Yes there are comprises to be made with these types of racks with having the straps through the car & though I haven't tested it normally the straps will get soaked & drip in the car if left on in the rain but for me this was exactly what I was looking for and I'm very happy with this purchase.

A: As long as your racks run lengthwise and not across the roof.

**Q: could it hold 3 paddleboards? ( I see 3 surfboards in the photo)**
A: Hello there! I have not yet strapped 3 Sups using this soft rack system. However, I was reading that it can hold 1-2 paddle boards. Here is a video showing 3 boards strapped using the soft rack. A: No. My Mustang could hold a 9.5' longboard

**Q: Will this work if the roof rails are flush rails? For example, as on many ford explorers**
A: I really can't quite answer your question...but in your situation you would have to space accordingly. The rack makes it so the boards don't hit the roof, nor stop the airflow under it. (equal the top and bottom as much as posibe So, it gives the straps more of a fighting chance to hold your boards securely on a roof on a car at a reasonable speed and not loosen up. The more a board has movement, the more chances you could lose it, and not know it's gone, before its too late..

I was looking for a rail rack set to replace my cheapy sup board foam rack, no matter what I did I never felt it would keep it safe & secure on my Toyota Camry. When I saw this LOCKDOWN soft rack with the ease, the promise of staying secure & the price I had to try it. Tested yesterday & found the product to be of quality (even down to the twist ties they use). It was a windy day so going with the wind it did not move or bounce at all & coming back into the wind there was a slight bounce but nowhere near to what it was on my old rack so I'm sooo happy that it works as promised & I can use my board more often. Yes there are comprises to be made with these types of racks with having the straps through the car & though I haven't tested it normally the straps will get soaked & drip in the car if left on in the rain but for me this was exactly what I was looking for and I'm very happy with this purchase.

If you're wondering if you need to spend alot of money and install a roof rack to transport your boards, don't. This soft rack does an amazing job at securing your boards on the roof of your car without any rack at all. I was surprised at how well this worked with two 8'6" longboards. Only recommendation would be to inspect the straps and fasteners for wear and weak spots each time you install. Tighten, retighten, and then tighten again. Great product.
