The red tin has a better shine, but the hold is very light compared to the blue tin. I usually mix the two when I use this brand. I'd say the blue tin has more of a shine than Black & White. & around the same shine as Murrays. It has a classic sweet smell to the hard, waxy texture. The smallest amount scooped out and worked very vigorously in my hands immediately tames my unruly short hair. It's almost magic how easy it is to comb my hair without the work of even the lightest water-based pomades. The downside is that the sheen it leaves on my salt-and-pepper hair makes me look a bit too greasy (too much salt up there these days), plus the work to shampoo it out the next day.
