Heavy duty plastic. This is my second compost bin...left the first one at my previous property when it was sold. Large, takes a lot of material and a long time for black compost. Worth the price! I dislike throwing organic matter in the trash, and this is the perfect solution for disposing of vegetable waste and just waiting for it to decompose. I bought one several years ago, and as it is full, I bought a second one in order to let the material in the first one decompose completely before using it. My largest complaint is that the door on the top lid cannot be operated 1-handed. This is annoying when I am holding a bowl of eg. vegetable scraps in 1 hand and want to pop open the lid with my other. I find it strange that the door would be fixed in place so strongly, but the lid itself is not locked down in any way. Other are for improvement is that the posts that are intended to fix the compost bin to the ground don't do a great job. Hopefully this won't be an issue in heavy winds.
