The solar panel is attached to the front of the metal building entrance, partially protected from rain but also partially blocked from all day sun and they work well.The photo was taken less than five minutes before they shut off in the morning and you can see that the lights are still on. It's important to note that these lights aren't super bright but do the job very well for highlighting the entrance to the building.
