    Everyone Has a Use in Society

    A lot of artistic licence is used to make this story work such as the exaggeration of drooling being like leaving a hose running in your house and I can't imagine concrete floor barred cells being affected by the threat they face for the plot to play out. No Drips definitely is not the most realistic story in the world but it does teach children that everyone in society can be useful if given an opportunity.  Including a dog with overactive saliva glands that gets rejected over and over again by would be adopters.Illustration wise they resemble those painted by a child, which may make them more appealing to children who see the pictures as something similar to what they could achieve. Although this book gives a positive message to accepting those with a physical disability (even a disability that some members of the public turn away from when encountering) I didn't like some of the other maybe unintentional messages.  Such as a fireman who should know better builds a drain to flow directly from a vent in a house into the river and an employee at the pound who has the "fun" likely lowly paid job of cleaning out kennels is demeaned with the title Kennel Boy Mark.  Why not just have called him Mark, especially since he is obviously from the illustrations a middle aged man?If you like Kindle books about adopting an animal with a disability you might also want to check out Weezie, the Elephant with Allergies.

    I loved this book.  We all, humans or animals want that one person that loves us unconditionally regardless of our traits and/or disabilities and/or flaws and/or background.  I am not a believer in working with agencies that help rescue animals due to the misappropriation of the monies given to them but if I met a dog like this one out in the world, he has a home with me.  Forever.  I have an 18 years old border collie dog that came to me as a few weeks old puppy lying on the side of the highway beside her dead mother.  She's been a wonderful companion and still is.  She has a home with me for life and does not need to worry about whether or not she'll be discarded like this dog was.  This dog story did have a happy ending though.

    Okay, maybe having a book about a dog that has an uncontrollable drooling issue seems a little weird for kids of the intended age, but I did get that this book was about everyone having a place where they belong. I thought the book had a cute message by the end. Somehow the idea that this poor dog gets passed around again and again seems a little mature with illustrations that seem to be for a much younger audience, but still in the end, the dog finds a home and everyone is happy. I think little kids would like this book (even with the drooling) simply for the fact that the dog becomes a hero by the end.
