Okatsune 101 7-inch Bypass Pruners, Small (One Pack)

I've had these for 18 months now. They're the best pruners I've ever owned and i see no reason I'd ever want to upgrade. I have an 8 inch span from my thumb to pinkie tip and I think the 101 size is perfect, it feels compact and easy to maneuver. The latch is secure and easy to operate. The handles are comfortable and the contrasting red and white colors make them easy to find and orient. These pruners are made from tool steel, not stainless steel. This is good because the steel is very hard and with a minimum of care they will stay sharp for a long time. To prevent rust you should wipe off any plant juice and oil the blade before putting them away, and store them inside if you live somewhere humid.

The are great. I like how they fit in my hand. They're not bulky. They're hella sharp! Cuts through appropriately sized branches like a hot knife through butter! I have nerve damaged hands. These little beauties have helped me tame a garden gone wild. TY!

Best purchase I've made for gardening, bar none. So easy to hold and use, even with my small hands and rheumatoid arthritis. They are very sharp, and haven't dulled with use so far. I am able to cut through branches up to 3/4 of an inch thick with ease, and even thicker, if I use a bit of a twisting motion to get the blade to cut from more than one side. They feel strong and sturdy, as though I'll be able to count on them for a many years to come, and I like the locking mechanism a lot. The cutting action is smooth, precise, very strong, and never sticks. After going through at least a half dozen different pruners over the years, and finding them all lacking in one area or another, these are a joy to use.

Farmer, contractor. I own all 3 sizes for over 10 years now. The large ones are a little too big for my size large hand (but not my helpers), the Medium are as large as I would want. The size small is the dream size. The small one easily fit my grip comfortably for hours long pruning. They will cut anything that will fit between the jaws, including your fence wire. They are very hard, as in the hardest metal I have seen in a set of pruners. You will need a small diamond stone to resharpen these (after a few hundred hours of use). This line of pruning shears are beyond commercial grade, they are farm abuse grade. The pair in the work truck has also cut electric wire, hardware cloth and hose. Suitable for processing game. Size small are the second to lightest on this site that are rated to cut 3/4 inch.

Been using this all summer. Good quality. very sharp. My wife has small hands and this is just the ticket.

Highlights of my Video Review: 1. I actually ordered both these Small ones and the XL ones because I couldn't decide which to get. I show the comparison in my video along with my old favorite, which is more of a traditional/standard pruner. 2. Several elderly gardeners who have been gardening most their lives actually introduced these to me and I was very skeptical - but after one use, I was totally sold and had to get my own set. 3. I've bought so many normal pruners throughout the years and never found ones that particularly wow'ed me until these. I love these. 4. Has some kind of springy action that really makes cutting a breeze 5. Easy, one handed operation - easy to flip the grip-lock just by wiping it against your leg or something. 6. Easy to take apart and sharpen - or...they open wide enough that you can do a quick sharpening job without even taking it apart 7. Has worked on live and dead branches just fine. Has outperformed anvil style pruners that claimed to be 5X more powerful than regular bypass pruners. Has outperformed all other pruners I've ever used. I've never used Felco pruners before though and I've heard those are the best on the market...those are out of my price range though and many reviewers have said that these are just as good with a better latch system. 8. These Small sized ones are perfect for my pocket so I can carry them around for all day gardening...and fit perfectly in my hand. I would recommend these for the ladies with small hands and the XL ones for men with large hands. 9. Made in Japan - Excellent Quality

I spent the day pruning fruit trees, going back and forth between my Felco and my new Okatsune. They're both very good and I was hoping I'd like the Japanese shears better. But I didn't. The Felco handles are much better designed. The geometry, pivot point and shape make cutting hardwood noticeably easier. I tested them repeatedly. On the same hardwood branches. The Felco is quiet and powers through. The Okatsune makes a strange click as it cuts through. It's not a problem but it takes more strength to make a cut. With softwood it wouldn't matter. But apples, pears and persimmons it does. My 10 year old agrees, as she tried both repeatedly and always ended up with the Felco. BTW Costco sells Felco knockoffs that are very good. Sharpening the Felco is much easier. It only has one bevel to get right. The Okatsune has a micro bevel of 10 degrees on the inside of the blade. I understand why. But it will make it more difficult to sharpen and maintain. I'm sorry I didn't like the Okatsune better.

Good quality pruner. Does get light rust quickly. It does not affect its performance. Unsure if I would buy again or go with a cheaper option… if it lasts, it might be worth it.

Have used Swiss made pruning shears in the past, but I was really amazed by how sharp and clear cuts these are making. Also feel very comfortable in the hand!

Giardiniere di professione, taglio spesso anche giornate intere, le più leggere su mercato non poco visto che le porti sempre , pecca leggermente d ergonomia ma compensa la lama un rasoio , consiglio il modello grande anche per i medi, così potete fare leva a due mani e dili veramente si superano, anche 3,5 mm su olivo in verde , con abbastanza facilità.eccezionali anche sul secco. Acciao altamente temperato quindi si può rompere, soprattutto la punta e si può arruginere compromessi che certificano la qualità di un vero acciaio destinato ad un uso specifico in questo caso tagliare.
