Great device, great price, easy to configure
I've been using Harmony remotes for quite some time. For my needs, this one is the best. I can program it to work for any device I have that uses an RF remote (some newer devices don't use RF, so consider that). Their app makes it easy to configure the remote for multiple activities and combinations of devices, like DVR + TV + Stereo, DVD + TV + Stereo, Stereo only, etc. I love that you can program any button to do anything. You can even "macro" a button to do a bunch of commands. For example, my new "smart" TV doesn't have a sleep command. It's buried in the menus. To set a sleep timer to 1 hour, I had to press menu, press up twice (or down 6 times, so no thanks...), enter, down 2 times, enter, and then exit, exit, exit to get out of the TV's menu. I was able to assign all of that to a single "+1 hr sleep" button I made. I could even add a tiny big of lag, after pressing the menu, since sometimes the TV would take too long to open the menu, and then the TV wouldn't get the right number of "up" presses, and would adjust brightness instead of sleep. One request I put on every harmony review is that they teach the activities to know when devices have "power on" and not just power toggle, and to use the power on command when starting an "activity". Instead, the remote tries to remember what's on, and only sends a power toggle command when it thinks that device isn't already on. If you turn the device off manually, have a power outage, or use a sleep timer, it doesn't turn the device on correctly. There's an easy workaround: press the "all off" button on the remote and then things will work normal. But it also seems like an easy fix, since their software already knows which devices have power toggle, on, and/or off commands available. Anyway, unless you have devices that need a universal remote than handles non-RF communications, or you want one of those fat-screen home automation "tablet" remotes, this is the best universal remote I've owned, and it has a great price. I have 3 in my house, and would buy this model over a lot of other, more expensive models even if price weren't the factor.

'Where have you been all my life?' kind of product
Having used this product for a few months now, my evaluation is, 'where were you all my life?'. It has its quirks, yes, but the fact that it places four devices that I use all the time in one device and does so easily, (with a few reservations), really places it 'way up there in my estimation. BTW there is a silicone protector that I also bought, designed just for this product that I believe is really essential for protection. All that said, mention must be made of the few quirks. The first one is that, after programming via computer, (Windows 8.1 version operating system), the update only reached 99% and never got to 100%. After waiting awhile after several attempts, I just disconnected the device and closed the app. on the computer. Low and behold, it worked fine... with a few more reservations. Here they are: 1). The devices programmed into the universal remote are displayed on the main screen --- all well and good --- however they move around, so you have to be careful that you are selecting the right one. 2). I have a 'turn on TV' option that will SOMETIMES turn on both the TV and my digital interface device at the same time and other times does not. It does not when I have powered down one or the other of the two individually via the remote and then later tried to use the 'turn on TV' option again. Later, it will work again if next time I have powered them both down together via the remote. Other than that, however, it is a truely great product to have and works so easily. My individual remotes, especially for the digitial interface device, were starting to go, with the buttons not working so well, so this is really a great thing to have, with the signal much stronger and more stable. The tactile feedback on the buttons also makes for easier operation, with no need to press too hard.

Who checked it? How was it checked? Because this one didn't work! ** Neither did the replacement (two-part review) **
Certified how? By Whom? Sure, it powered up but would NOT be recognized by the computer/MyHarmony. Since I have a brand new 650 (which is why I wanted another one for a room with just TV/BRD player) I tried the cable from it as well -- same non-recognition. I guess I am insane, because I'm exchanging this for another to see if maybe I just won the defect lottery with this one. Still, something a basic as being recognized via cable should be a part of a certified refurbished test. Sad. ====================================================================================================== Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice... This review is about the REPLACEMENT certified refurbished Harmony 650 remote. I thought that perhaps one bad one was in the batch of equipment which Blutek Intl is selling, so I did a re-order of the certified refurbished Harmony 650 -- and waited to return the first try until the second one was officially shipped. And the replacement fails with the same issues -- computer can't find the remote. To be clear, it is actually computerS can't find the remote. Two W7 laptops, one W10 laptop, one W7 professional desktop. All can't connect to the remote. All had the AV and firewalls disabled. Tried every USB port on each unit. Tried with the cable from my new-in-package Harmony 650 I got for Christmas (which is what started me on wanting one for another room) with no luck. I see other people now posting recently they are having the same issues. That says to me that the seller Blutek Intl either is knowingly not refurbishing these and selling if they power up, OR seller Blutek Intl gets them from some bulk processing place which is failing to actually refurbish these units. Either way, buyers should NOT be purchasing these "Certified Refurbished" Harmony 650 from seller Blutek Intl because they DO NOT WORK. I'm just totally sad about this situation and hope sometime there will be a true certified refurbished unit available for those of us budget minded people.

Very good for OTA WMC HTPC
A couple of keys on my old Rosewill remote were not working any more on my HTPC so it was time to get a new one. Been eyeing Harmony for a while and after reading reviews about problems with the remotes that didn't use buttons, decided on this one. Good price, all the functionality I want and need (WMC). Took a couple of hours to program correctly but after much reading on the net found the answer. Caveat: I use OTA antennae with HDHomerun and WMC7; also stream using Playon and use Kodi as well. Here is how I setup my TV, receiver, and HTPC: Download the programming software from myharmony and create a login, then connect the remote to your computer with included usb cable. I added a TV - Sharp LC-46D64 and Receiver - Bose 1-2-3 Series III and they were recognized fine. For HTPC - have to input Manf: Microsoft and Model: Windows Media Center SE. Next set up activity to Watch TV: TV to control video (attached by HDMI) Receiver to control volume (attached with optical) Media Center to control channel changes Your preference for Media Center input (desktop and MCE startpage both work fine) Used CBL/SAT as input for my receiver You can add other items to this activity but I just wanted it to work with the basics for now so I was done. It synced to the remote and removed the usb cable when prompted. I went through the setup on the remote screen and clicked the help button as prompted when something didn't work right and it fixed it. Smart remote!!! Thank goodness!!! I turn my receiver on and off with the device controls on the screen as I leave my HTPC on 24/7. Just got it Friday evening, set it up yesterday afternoon and was set up and using same night for Halloween Horror movie night with my family - worked great. Ordered the Flirc USB receiver with the harmony remote but couldn't get it to work - there were a lot of examples where people did make it work but I need it to be an easy MCE remote (seems like there was a missing step or two that wasn't apparent to me, that's why I wrote this step by step); couldn't find good instructions on easy use set up for WMC (which my Mom uses so is the priority). Used my old Rosewill usb receiver and BAM!; worked great with no lag even 10+ ft away. I'll add custom button, etc. later but for now am very happy. Thank you to all who write instructions, my family thinks I'm techy but I'm just persistent.

Perfect Replacement for Worn Older Harmony Remote
The 650 remote arrived in what appeared to be a factory sealed package. Inside were the remote, cable, instructions and two batteries. The batteries in the package were old and corroded, to I tossed them and installed two new batteries. The remote started so I plugged it into my laptop and installed my previous Harmony setup from an older remote that is finally failing. Everything transferred to the new remote perfectly. This doesn't seem like a refurbished remote, rather it seems to be a product that never sold and was sitting on a shelf for an extended period. Since it seems Logitech / Harmony no longer make these remotes and I was extremely happy with my older Harmony remote, this was the perfect replacement. The only issue was the old batteries and I'm not removing any stars for that. This remote is new and works perfectly.

Here is a review for the non technical smart remote purchaser
Here is a review for the non technical smart remote purchaser. The price is very attractive (~$60 bucks). This remote does have many of the "bells and whistles" that you would expect in a smart remote. It also comes with the complexity. So if you want an apple-like experience, you are going to have a bad time. The few things not to like: You backlit keys do not include the 5 buttons at the top. Those are the ones used to turn on/off all your stuff. Not sure why they are not back lit 75% of the time when you want remote to turn everything off, or switch from TV to Chromecast (or Xbox or whatever), it does not work the first time. There is a little helper that corrects everything, but it would be better if it just...worked. You can't reorder any tasks. So let's say you set this thing up to switch between 5 different activities, but you really only do 2 of them most of the time, you can set it up so that the 2 you use most often are at the top.

Never wrote a 5-star review before, but...
...I ordered the refurbished 650 model. Figured I'd save $30 or so off the new version. It's just a remote, right? Well, usually I read over the reviews at length, but I was in a hurry. So when I came back to Amazon and looked the comments over to see what other folks did to set it up, (no instructions were included), the negative reviews on the refurbished remotes had me really concerned. I was wondering if I screwed up by getting a refurb. In short, I simply Googled the model and the user manual, then went to the Logitech website, downloaded the software and performed the setup. Man, it was really, really easy. As long as you have the model numbers of each device you plan to control. Now I couldn't be happier, we just eliminated having to use 5-6 remotes! And it even controls my old CD jukebox and my new Skystream Kodi box. Awesome. A couple notes... * Yeah, the s/n was blacked out with a sharpie. That didn't come into play however. * You need to use FRESH AA batteries or the unit will blank out. If you use old (low) batteries and it will have issues. * Once you download the software you can make easy changes to the device, then simply plug the remote into the USB with the cable supplied, and sync it. Very easy. * Granted we've only had it for one day as I type this, but if this device lasts, then it turned out to be a great buy. It sure simplifies the process of watching TV, listening to music, watching moves, etc., especially for my wife.

MyHarmony tool is mediocre, but it works!
I had much difficulty getting a working login for the MyHarmony tool. It seems that I have used my email addresses with Logitech in the past and their application wants you to have a brand new email to create an account. I tried password recovery and it told me my email was not registered, but would fail when I would register. I was stuck in limbo. In the end, I figured out that there is no email verification, so I made up a bogus email address and it was fine with that. Pretty lame. Since this was a refurbished unit, my remote was already associated with someone else's account. I removed my device their account, but I also was able to look at the other remotes in that person's account. Pretty lame. You can assign any button to any IR code for any device (even if it's not one of the ones it knows about by having it learn it), which is awesome. Some of my devices had pretty ridiculous assigned buttons from the factory default (e.g., "Info"/"Guide" was assigned he PageUp/PageDn button, respectively). However, you cannot remove an assignment (only replace it with another). One trick is to grab a remote for something you don't have and learn a button from it and name it "Nothing" and then you can assign that to a button as a way to unassign them. Pretty lame. The remote itself has worked great. I don't really care for the activity buttons at the top. They don't really map to my needs and so they are confusing at best. I always use the LCD screen to switch between activities (since you can assign custom labels there). I would be happier to have the remote be an inch shorter, removing those buttons entirely. So far, everything else is everything that I expected, and it's reduced my home theater situation from four remotes down to one.

Great product, and particularly so at this price
Great product, and particularly so at this price. Really nicely made, good action, feels good and works well. And other than pnain box indistinguishable from a new one.

It synced using my original remotes settings and works flawlessly.
The Logitech Harmony 650 is the best remote I ever used. Itโs much better than my Logitech Harmony 1100, which has a fancy touchscreen. Can use this with one hand just using your thumb to run your entire entertainment system. The programming is flexible and easy. Works great!!
